About the Burgesslandscaping project
Информационно-образовательный ресурс по основам работы с данными
What This Site Is
A reading room for people curious about data work. Nothing more, nothing less. We gather notes on how information gets collected, cleaned up, turned into charts, and read back into plain conclusions - and we lay it out so a beginner can follow along.
No classrooms here. No diplomas at the end. Treat what you read as background reading, the kind of thing you'd bookmark before a longer study path elsewhere.
Why We Bother
The point is simple. Most beginner material on data either drowns you in jargon or hides behind paywalls, and we wanted a middle path where the basic ideas sit in the open for anyone to browse.
Plain explanations come first. When a term looks intimidating, we slow down and describe what it actually does, using the kind of comparisons you'd use talking to a friend over coffee, not the ones from a lecture slide.
How We Write
Descriptive, neutral, low-drama. Materials here explain how things generally work, not which tool you should buy or which method beats the others on Tuesday.
You will not find us pushing a product or a course. The aim is a mental map: where the pieces of data work sit, what they roughly do, and how they connect. Where you go with that map is up to you.
Being Honest About It
This is not professional advice. If your job or a serious decision depends on getting data right, talk to someone qualified - a statistician, a domain expert, an engineer who does this daily.
Learning this stuff takes time and it looks different for everyone. Some readers land here already knowing spreadsheets cold, others are opening their first CSV. We can offer the reading; the doing part is on you, and we can't be responsible for how choices get made from what you read.
Informational Only
Everything on the site is for general reading. There are no certificates, no assessments, no promise that finishing an article moves you closer to a job or a specific skill milestone.
How you use any of this is your call. Some visitors just want to understand what colleagues are talking about; others use articles as a jumping-off point into proper courses. Both are fine, and both are the reader's own decision.
